Bowing to influence from gay activists, Microsoft Corp. upon May 6 said that it would support pro-gay use laws in the future. "I've conclud that diversity in the workplace is like an important issue for our business that it should be included in our legislative agenda," chief executive Steve Ballmer wrote in an email to employee that said the company would support the pair federal and local antidiscrimination laws.

"We are haughty that Microsoft ... has arrive down squarely on the side of fairness," said Joe Solmonese executive director of the Human Rights Campaign. The looks Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center--which had called for the reply of an award it gave Microsoft--said the company could hold it.
